The Hamilton County Community Foundation is thrilled to congratulate Thomas “Tom” Sheehan on being recognized as a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Eric J. Holcomb. This prestigious honor is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary service and dedication to the state of Indiana, and Tom’s impact on our community makes him a truly deserving recipient.

Tom Sheehan’s journey is a testament to the power of hard work, humility, and a heart for service. After serving in the Army, Tom began his career selling encyclopedias door-to-door, eventually founding Carmel Financial Corporation. His professional success laid the groundwork for his and his late wife Soni’s lifelong dedication to giving back.

Through their philanthropy, Tom, Soni, and their family have transformed countless lives. More than $15 million has been awarded throughout their lifetime—including nearly $1 million just in 2024.

Tom and Soni’s generosity extends beyond the Tom & Soni Sheehan Fund, including as stalwart supporters of numerous local organizations, from raising funds for St. Vincent de Paul to collecting food through Carmel Financial for the Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County. Tom also served on the Riverview Hospital Foundation Board, where his leadership contributed to projects that continue to benefit Hamilton County residents today.

The Sheehan family’s generosity can be seen throughout our community, from the chapel at Riverview Hospital, dedicated to the memory of Tom’s late son, Timothy, to ongoing efforts to strengthen local nonprofits. Tom’s story reminds us all that philanthropy isn’t reserved for a select few—it begins with a drive to make a difference, no matter the size of the gift. As we celebrate Tom Sheehan’s well-deserved recognition as a Sagamore of the Wabash, Hamilton County Community Foundation is proud to honor his continuing legacy of kindness, leadership, and service. Tom, thank you for your unwavering commitment to making Hamilton County a better place. Your contributions inspire us all to lead with generosity and compassion County can have when it leverages collaboration, generosity, and passion for building a stronger Hamilton County.
